Climate Week New York - Global Logistics Emissions Council Meeting

The Global Logistics Emissions Council Meeting is being held on September 21 in New York and is registered as an official affiliate event of Climate Week, NYC (September 18-24).

The aim of the meeting is to raise awareness of the Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) and the GLEC Framework in the US and globally.  Experiences with the GLEC Framework implementation will be shared and will give organisations a chance to explore the opportunities to embed the GLEC Framework in existing programs and initiatives.

Smart Freight Centre leads the Global Logistics Emission Council (GLEC) as a voluntary partnership of companies, green freight programs and industry associations working to support businesses to improve logistics efficiency and reduce emissions.

We published the first (and only) global framework for logistics emissions methodologies in June 2016, which helps companies to quantify their progress in a consistent and comparable way and carries the 'Built on GHG Protocol' mark.

Presenting at the meeting will be Cheryl Bynum, SmartWay, National Program Manager, Paola Delgado Luna from the WWF on Science Based Targets Initiative & Transportation and George Hodge the Director of the Suppy Chain Program, North America as well as Patrick Browne, UPS Director of Global Sustainability.

With work ongoing to update the GLEC Framework in preparation for v2.0 in 2018, and a significant increase in interest to implement the Framework, we hope that this will provide the opportunity to spread the word about GLEC and the Framework, and stimulate a comprehensive discussion about the potential opportunities and benefits offered by implementation of the Framework alongside other linked future developments in the logistics sector.

Although the meeting is invite only, you are welcome to email Kate Hay, GLEC Coordinator kate.hay@smartfreightcentre.org, for further details about the meeting and how to get involved with GLEC.
