Report and set targets
- One of the first adopters of the GLEC Framework* and actively supports its further development. Realizing that cooperation with policy makers is essential, DB Schenker is on the forefront of advocating for an ISO standard that builds on the GLEC Framework.
- On track to achieve its 2006-2030 targets* of a minimum of 40% reduction per tonne-km. A key reason for success is that targets are also set for individual modes, accompanied with a clear roadmap of actions. Main measures are fleet modernization and eco-driving for road freight, vessel size, fuel and route optimization for marine freight, fleet modernization and operational improvements for air, and electricity and heating reduction for logistics sites. In addition, the switch to non-fossil fuels is driven together with policy makers and research institutes.
- Converts its own fleet of distribution vehicles gradually to electromobility, linked to the global EV100 campaign*. By 2030, all own vehicles up to 3.5 tons and half of all vehicles between 3.5-7.5 tons will be equipped with electric drives or fuel cells by 2030. DB Schenker already operates electric transport vehicles and electric cargo bikes in Europe.
- Offers Eco Solutions* for every mode of transportation, allowing customers to reduce or compensate for CO2 emissions along the entire supply chain. Under a Carbon Reduction Agreement’, 7 top carriers had agreed to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 20% per container moved for DB Schenker from 2014 to 2020.
- Advocates, together with other companies, for more ambitious CO2 targets* for the EU for commercial vehicles of -20 percent by 2025 and -35 percent by 2030
- Collaborates with partner organizations to test new technologies, such as a pilot of truck platooning in Germany together with MAN and Fresenius University, and electric autonomous trucks with the Swedish start-up Einride.
