In August 2019, Fraunhofer IML achieved accreditation from SFC for the REff tool as a calculation tool that provides emissions calculations in conformance with the GLEC Framework. REff tool – Resource Efficiency at Logistics Sites is one of the first GHG emissions calculation tools to have received this accreditation from SFC.

REff tool was developed by Fraunhofer IML to support companies when carbon and energy auditing their logistics sites and is available online. REff tool is widely used by multinationals around the world. Many of these companies expressed interest in the use of the GLEC Framework; therefore Fraunhofer IML wished to clearly state the alignment of its tool with the GLEC Framework. With the completion of the accreditation process, SFC confirms that the REff tool can provide calculations for logistics operations that are in methodological conformance with the GLEC Framework.

This accreditation also means that multinational shippers and logistics service providers are able to implement the GLEC Framework regarding warehousing and transhipment services by using the REff tool.
