About Smart Freight Centre

Smart Freight Centre (SFC) is a globally active non-profit organization for climate action in the freight sector. We are enablers for those who believe in united action to reduce logistics greenhouse gas emissions. Through creating a single, international methodology for tracking freight emissions we drive transparency to enable emission reductions. SFC brings together multi-nationals, forwarders & carriers, NGOs, and governments in our collaborative initiatives, trainings and programs. Together, we help solve the business challenges behind reducing freight emissions and impact the industry standards. Our goal is to guide the industry to track and reduce its GHG emissions by 1 billion tonnes by 2030 and reach zero emissions by 2050 or earlier.

About the position

The Communications Coordinator will work in a small, internationally oriented organization, where sparring and interaction with colleagues across the organization and SFC partners is key. The Communications Coordinator reports to the Communications Manager and works in close collaboration with all SFC team members. The Communications Coordinator works alongside another Communications Coordinator, to allow for a split of responsibilities. This new role allows for more in-depth knowledge and further support of the growing number of programs which are offered by Smart Freight Centre. With the organization growing quickly, effective communication is vital in sharing Smart Freight Centre’s mission, projects, and ongoing work to reach the goal of a net-zero freight sector by 2050. You will play an important role in helping shape the organization’s messaging and external image moving forward.

We ask you to:

  • Coordinate and execute communication activities for SFC initiatives, training, services, publications and events
  • Manage content for SFC's website and social media channels, ensure these are regularly updated and communicate main messages consistently
  • Support SFC staff with publications, speaking opportunities and events
  • Develop and update rules and templates for SFC's communication and inform staff about these
  • Give advice and support to staff on how to maximize the effectiveness of their communication, stakeholder engagement and how to increase SFC's visibility
  • Create and deliver content calendars, in coherence with business objectives

As the ideal candidate, you can demonstrate:

  • At least 3 years relevant work experience, preferably in similar sized organizations
  • Experience with B2B communication
  • Fluent in English, basic working knowledge of Dutch is a plus
  • Flexibility - able to work independently and proactively in a dynamic environment
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to work with different personality types
  • A natural affinity for content creation and experience using relevant software or tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc)
  • Proficient in MS Office and CMS systems
