About Smart Freight Centre

Smart Freight Centre (SFC) is a globally active non-profit organization for climate action in the freight sector. We are enablers for those who believe in united action to reduce logistics greenhouse gas emissions. Through creating a single, international methodology for tracking freight emissions we drive transparency to enable emission reductions. SFC brings together multi-nationals, forwarders & carriers, NGOs, and governments in our collaborative initiatives, trainings and programs. Together, we help solve the business challenges behind reducing freight emissions and impact the industry standards. Our goal is to guide the industry to track and reduce its GHG emissions by 1 billion tonnes by 2030 and reach zero emissions by 2050 or earlier.

About the position

The Communications Intern will work in a small, internationally oriented organization, where sparring and interaction with colleagues across the organization and SFC partners are key. The Communications Intern reports to the Communications Manager and works in close collaboration with all SFC team members.
With the organization growing quickly, effective communication is vital in sharing Smart Freight Centre’s mission, projects, and ongoing work to reach the goal of a net-zero freight sector by 2050. The chosen candidate will play an important role in helping shape the organization’s messaging and external image moving forward.

We ask you to
  • Support with the development of key SFC communications and marketing tools
  • Assist in working with external consultants to deliver successful SFC products and publication launches
  • Support the SFC team with regular website updates (including Latest News, Jobs, Blogs and ad hoc text updates)
  • Support developing social media (LinkedIn, Twitter) content for campaigns around key SFC Initiatives, events and training courses
  • Keep our CRM system up to date with all key marketing, communication and media contacts

As the ideal candidate, you can demonstrate:
  • Fluency in English, basic working knowledge of Dutch is a plus
  • Flexibility - able to work independently and proactively in a dynamic environment
  • Good interpersonal skills, able to work with different personality types
  • A natural affinity for content creation and experience using relevant software or tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc)
  • Proficient in MS Office and CMS systems
