About Smart Freight Centre

Smart Freight Centre (SFC) is a globally active non-profit organization for climate action in the freight sector. We are enablers for those who believe in united action to reduce logistics greenhouse gas emissions. Through creating a single, international methodology for tracking freight emissions we drive transparency to enable emission reductions. SFC brings together multinationals, forwarders & carriers, NGOs, and governments in our collaborative initiatives, trainings and programs. Together, we help solve the business challenges behind reducing freight emissions and impact the industry standards. Our goal is to guide the industry to track and reduce its GHG emissions by 1 billion tonnes by 2030 and reach zero emissions by 2050 or earlier.

About the position

SFC is currently establishing a Green Freight Program in India with partners in the ecosystem based on industry-wide alliances between shippers, LSPs, the public sector, and carriers to promote fuel efficiency and reduce air pollutant emissions from logistics operations. SFC has secured partners and started the “baselining of freight emissions” in urban and long-haul mobility. SFC would like to broaden and expand the program in collaboration with multiple stakeholders. SFC would also use this opportunity to further expand its operations with a local office in India. The primary focus of the role is to lead operations, finance, and compliance of Smart Freight’s Indian Green Freight Program.

This position will give you the opportunity to work with some of the world's biggest public-facing companies (FT500 or equivalent). SFC India Director will work in an international organization where interaction with colleagues across the organization and SFC partners is key.

You will be working closely with Smart Freight Centre CEO Christoph Wolff, the SFC Technical and business development team; India-specific but will work as part of a global operations team.

  • Engagement with a holistic platform to facilitate peer-to-peer learning and collaboration amongst different stakeholders of the freight ecosystem to identify and address barriers and arrive at strategic interventions
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor all fundraising and accounting systems and procedures capturing all projects, billings, and receipts and recording all the revenue transactions
  • Manage the shippers community and its members, including member engagement, and retention, as well as organizing and facilitating meetings and activities and assembling reports
  • Become a trusted partner and primary interlocutor with the shipper’s community and its steering committee and develop new areas of interest and services
  • Support the SFC team that leads the Global Logistics Emissions Council projects related to road decarbonization
  • Work with colleagues, consultants, and partners to manage multi-year projects to time, budget, and partner satisfaction according to SFC’s project management procedures
  • Write project reports and industry guidelines and provide content input to training courses, assessment tools, case studies, and other materials
