About Smart Freight Centre

Smart Freight Centre (SFC) is an NGO that has gained a lot of attention during the past 10 years, as we have been leading the way to an efficient and zero-emissions global freight sector. We drive transparency and mobilize multinational companies and their logistics partners to take action. This is done through globally standardized guidelines for industry to calculate, report and reduce emissions.

One of SFC’s flagship initiatives is the Sustainable Freight Buyers Alliance (SFBA) which aims to meet the growing demand of shippers to take collaborative action beyond reporting. SFBA members are encouraged to cooperate in order to shift towards zero-emissions freight across all modes of transport in collaboration with their supply chains and partners. Through the work of the Alliance, Members are enabled to take collective action in projects, improve and advance their freight procurement, amplify their work towards driving policy change and encouraged to foster collaborative partnerships.

  • Developing procurement practices for the logistics sector to promote and embed sustainability (reduction of GHG emissions) into market engagements and procurement decision making
  • Support the SFBA director in identifying opportunities together with stakeholders to create additional value for, and support the active transition to a low carbon logistics industry

Ideal candidate characteristics:

  • 7+ years of experience in both strategic and operational contracting and procurement roles, ideally with a minimum of 3 years with a specific logistics focus (buying equipment and/or freight services)

  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Excellent presentation skills and storytelling capacity, ability to take stakeholders on a journey is crucial
